Not everyone gets to land their dream job, but that is where Maxime from Slots.info has found himself. With a professional interest dating back to 2009, he is now the passion and driving force behind this independent, market-leading online slots specialist review site. We sat down with Maxime to talk to him about his journey and what the site holds for the future.

Hi Maxime, thank you for taking the time to come and talk to us. Firstly, we’d love to know how you managed to land your dream position.

Maxime

Hi, and thanks for the opportunity. I am going to say that Slots.info is not my first rodeo. While I had the opportunity to acquire the site in 2024, I had previously set up my own German-based slots venture in 2009, which I sold three years later. I had been working in closely aligned tech-adjacent roles in the interim. When the chance at Slots.info came up, I jumped at the chance. It felt like coming home.

While Slots.info was a well-established directory, we have recently had a major relaunch to make it an indispensable resource for iGamers around the world.

Around the world? That is quite a claim. Where exactly do you cover?

Maxime

Yes, it is a big claim, but our data backs it up. We are a central hub for everything related to online slots for players in the US, UK, Philippines, Denmark, Greece, New Zealand, Spain, Netherlands, Nigeria, and Uganda. We think that is an impressive range of markets.

What was the site about before relaunch, and what has it become? What are the aspirations for the future?

Maxime

The site has been around for quite some time, and the domain was first registered in July 2002. It is a mature, trusted domain, but we felt it needed a bit of modernization.

So we have taken it from a top-class directory to a dynamic central hub for slots information. However, it is just about information; it is interactive, stuffed full of reviews and useful information, and signposts players to the very best in slot entertainment.

Rather than focusing just on what is currently available, it allows our users to peek into the future and see what the developers have coming down the line. The site is continuously updated, so it is fresh and exciting. It is an industry foundation that will serve our users for years to come.

So, how have you gone about your relaunch? What has changed, and how are you keeping it so fresh?

Maxime

Well, without wanting to give away all our trade secrets, we have created a website by players, for players that works hand in hand with the best industry partners while maintaining total independence.

My personal passion is the thrill of the high-volatility game, but whatever type of slots iGamers love or want to learn to play, we have got them covered. The mission of the site is broad, and we do not aim to tell our users what to play but to give players the most accurate, clear, and up-to-date information so they can decide what is right for them.

We have close relationships with software developers like Hacksaw Gaming and Pragmatic Play, which means we can let our users know when games are launching. We have introduced a calendar view on the website, so players can see at a glance when a new release is about to drop.

We focus on three core principles to produce clear, accurate information.

  • Comprehensive data – we gather and centralize information on thousands of slots covering both the golden oldies and the most complex new releases.
  • Expert verification – we do not just believe the marketing hype or take anything as read. Our team members play the games and check out all the features to understand the game from the player’s perspective.
  • Absolute Clarity – this is about how we present the data to our users. We have a clean and easy-to-understand user interface with a multi-view option. We break down complex mechanics, so players know exactly what they need to know.

That’s an interesting proposition. What information do you think players need to know?

Maxime

Well, that depends on what they are looking for, but we think that it is good to let our users know when new titles will drop and what has already been released. We consider things like RTP (return to player), what our reviewers thought of the game, community feedback, who the developer is, the type of payline, the game’s theme, and the max win available.

We want to appeal to casual players looking for a fun theme and to seasoned veterans who want to analyze volatility. Our promise is simple: we are an honest and up-to-date resource.

Working in the slots market can be quite intense. What do you do to relax and unwind when you are away from the screens?

Maxime

Yes, it is funny doing for work what so many people do for pleasure, but trust me, working in an area you are passionate about is good for the soul. I am incredibly lucky as I live in Freiburg and have the Black Forest on my doorstep.

As an adrenaline junkie (did I mention I love high-volatility slots), I get an absolute thrill from a fast downhill mountain bike run and paragliding high above the ground. However, I have my quiet moments too, and a quiet walk through the ancient trees is my way of resetting. The forest brings a sense of calm and clarity, helping me stay mindful, focused, and in control.

While these are two very different aspects of my personality, they are also the foundation for everything we are doing at Slots.info. We want our users to have fun while staying in control.

Wise words indeed. How do you advise iGamers to adopt a similar approach and stay in control?

Maxime

It does require some self-discipline, but always remember:

  • The budget is sacred – set it and stick to it before playing.
  • Don’t play on a bad day.
  • Don’t mix slots and alcohol.
  • Never chase the losses.

Finally, remember the golden rule: it is entertainment, not an income stream. Keep it fun and light. If it ever feels like a job or a possible solution to a financial problem, a line has been crossed, and you need to walk away!
