Rapid US Online Gambling Growth Is Exposing a Consumer Support Gap

New revenue and complaint data show why clear dispute handling is becoming a bigger part of the conversation around online gambling in America.

The U.S. online gambling market is expanding at record pace, but consumer protection is becoming a more visible part of that growth story.

The American Gaming Association reported that commercial gaming revenue reached $20.39 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up 5.1% from a year earlier. iGaming alone generated approximately $3.1 billion during the quarter.

Those numbers reflect continued demand for legal digital gambling in the states where online casinos are permitted, according to a statement from PlayersTime. They also mean more accounts, more transactions and more situations in which customers may need help resolving a dispute.

The Better Business Bureau has already documented the scale of the wider issue. Between 2022 and mid-2025, it received more than 10,000 business complaints connected to online gambling and gaming, as well as nearly 200 Scam Tracker reports.

The complaints do not all involve regulated online casinos. That distinction matters in the United States, where legal iGaming, offshore gambling sites and other online gaming models can look similar to consumers while operating under very different rules.

For players, the first challenge is often figuring out who is responsible when something goes wrong.

A delayed withdrawal at a state-regulated casino may need to go through the operator’s complaints process and, if necessary, the relevant state regulator. A dispute with an unlicensed website may leave the customer with fewer practical options. In both cases, keeping a clear record of the interaction can make a major difference.

That is where the approach used by independent complaint platforms such as PlayersTime.com becomes relevant. Rather than reducing a dispute to a public accusation, the process starts by collecting evidence: payment records, screenshots, account messages, verification requests and previous communication with the casino.

The aim is to answer basic questions that are often lost in long customer-support exchanges. What was requested? What did the player provide? What deadline was given? What reason has the operator provided for the delay or restriction?

PlayersTime uses that type of documented timeline when reviewing complaints and approaching operators. Independent complaint support does not replace a state gaming regulator, and it cannot guarantee that every dispute will end in the player’s favor.

The value is in making the complaint specific enough to investigate.

That is particularly important in a market where consumers may assume that every online gambling product carries the same protections. The BBB has warned that the legality and structure of online gambling and gaming can be confusing, especially where websites are not clearly licensed or verified.

Regulated operators also have an incentive to make complaint handling clearer. As digital gambling grows, customer trust depends not only on fast deposits and convenient access to games, but also on what happens when withdrawals are delayed, accounts are reviewed or promotional terms are disputed.

For services such as PlayersTime, this creates a role between the initial support ticket and formal escalation: helping organise the record, identify the unresolved point and encourage a direct answer.

The U.S. online gambling market is still growing quickly. Revenue figures show that clearly. But the next stage of maturity will also be measured by how effectively the industry handles customers for whom the experience does not go smoothly.
